The Caterpillar

We went to Onion Days and to visit Brian’s parents and family for Labor Day.  Tyson loved the parade and the candy that was thrown to him.  We walked around the carnival, ate some food and walked through the rides.  We weren’t planning on letting Tyson ride anything but Brian saw the Caterpillar and was like “okay, he’s gotta get on this one.”  I was really nervous.  It’s like a mini rollercoaster!  I thought for sure he was too small but he did great and he LOVED it!  Next time I’ll try not to be so protective.  I feel silly about it now but at the time I was really, really nervous.  The pictures I got aren’t the greatest.  The girl in front of Tyson was older and bigger than him.  Also, the corner I was standing at Tyson kept looking down.  But hopefully you can still see how much fun he had.

Hope everyone had a nice Labor Day.  We did!  It’s hard to get back to reality when you have a day off isn’t it?

Extra Key

Just wanted to remind everyone to place an extra house key somewhere that isn’t IN your house.

Tyson locked me out of the house today.  It seriously took him 2 seconds to do it too.  I wasn’t panicked because we have an extra key in a certain hiding place.  Well, apparently last time I used that key, I didn’t return it.  That’s when I panicked.  I had to call Brian and he had to leave work to come unlock the door.  Let’s just say it was a long 25 minutes.  Anyway, I had NO idea he could lock a door.  I tried to coach him through unlocking it but he didn’t get it.  To be honest, I didn’t really expect him to.  I’m happy we have a patio so I could see him through that door.  I tried to sing him songs, help him unlock the door, and told him about a bazillion times that Mommy loves him.  He cried most of the time asking to “get out” or “I want a cookie.”  I told him mommy would certainly give him a cookie once daddy unlocks the door.

So anyway, just a word of warning about that extra key.  It does NO good when it’s inside the locked house : )

Big Boy Bed

I’m doing this post to brag.  Perhaps most toddlers are like this but I was expecting the worst.  Brian and I got his new bed on Friday.  We (and by we I mean Brian) changed Tyson’s old room with my mother’s room.  All day we’d been prepping Tyson about him sleeping in a new big boy bed.  He seemed pretty excited about it.  Once it was set up we let him play and jump on it.  Earlier during the day he ended up never taking a nap so I thought that he might be so exhausted he wouldn’t wind down or that he might just go straight to sleep.  Luckily he went straight to sleep.  He has slept in the bed for 3 nights and 3 naps and it couldn’t go any better.  He’s only sleeping on top of the comforter for now.  I’m sure in time he’ll understand what sheets are for.  He loves his new CARS bed.  The bed has a little canopy which he thinks is pretty cool.  This is a small bunk bed from Ikea but you can just make it into a regular twin size bed if you want.  We thought we’d let him get use to sleeping in a bed closer to the floor first. Here are some pictures of our boy in his Big Boy Bed!

We’re still alive

Sorry everyone.  We’re still alive.  It’s been busy around here.  I’ll just dive right in.

My knee is pretty much recovered.  Still sore at times and still weak.  I still have a fear sometimes teaching that I’ll do something to hard or big to hurt it again but I do what I can to be careful.

Tyson is getting so big.  I have no idea where my little baby went.  He is a full blown toddler.  He likes Thomas the train, tractors, trucks, dogs, and playing outside.  He says close to full sentences.  For example, he was sitting on the couch reading.  I came to sit by him and I guess I got to close to him and he turned to me with this irritated face and said, “Move-a down!”  He loves to tell me to “stop it!”  Suppose I say that to him too much : )  He seriously lifts my spirits most of the day.  Having a kid hasn’t been easy and I know it will only get harder but I am totally in love with this age.  He can put his bowl in the sink by himself, he always wants to do everything himself (which takes tons of patience from me) and says “I do it!”, and he just laughs at almost everything.  Sure he throws his massive tantrums but they never seem to last too long.  I love him and I’m so glad he’s here with us.  We went camping two weekends ago and I was having a rough emotional evening to say the least.  It was time for Ty to go to bed and so I laid next to him on the air mattress.  I was sad and crying and he ran his hand on my head and kept saying, “shhh…shhh..it’s okay mommy.”  It melted my heart.  Once I calmed down he fell right to sleep snuggled up to me.  It was a very spiritual experience for me.  One I hope to never forget.

Brian is taking the plunge and headed back to school.  He’ll get another degree but this time in Accounting.  We’re excited and nervous about the process but I’m so proud of my husband for making the decision that we believe will help our little family out tremendously in the long run.  He still works for Flirty Aprons and loves it.  He’s the best husband and father!

I’m still teaching ballet.  Excited for a new year of students and classes.  I’ll be starting in about a week and half.  My mother has been here a lot the last few months.  We’ve done tons of fun things together and Tyson really loved having “My Grandma" (as he calls her) here.  She helped me out when I hurt my knee and recently had perfect timing coming out because I have been so super sick and then got put on bed rest.  Yep, we’re expecting.  Due middle of February, we’ll have a brand new baby around.  Considering all the issues I had in the beginning with nausea that wouldn’t go away with any kind of medication to being put onto bed rest for two weeks and possible issues with my thyroid, we seem to be okay for now.

Here are some family pictures that got taken in May.  My other pictures from the last few months are on my camera and I need to get to other things.  Until next time I’ll just leave you with these pictures : )

Dislocation

Dislocated my knee cap in dance rehearsal Saturday.  Probably the most painful thing I have ever experienced.  I remember crying and yelling “Help me!” over and over again.  I feel bad because I am positive I scared the director.  Ambulance came and 8 men drugged me up.  Can’t remember how I got off the dance studio floor into the ambulance.  Took a BUMPY and painful ride to the hospital.  Dr moved my knee cap back into place. OUCH! Husband walked in.  Relief.  X-rays were takin’.  Everything appeared to be okay and was told it will be sore.  They weren’t kidding.  Very sore.  Was told I would be able to dance within a week or two. I have crutches and pain medication.  Follow up with Sports Med Dr. Wednesday afternoon.  For now just trying to stay off of my left leg and only meet immediate demands for myself and my son.  Say a prayer please.  Thank you…

The past month

Sorry about not updating as much.  We are all doing great.  Tyson is learning more and more each day.  He says “Okay” to pretty much anything I say.  He is still great at throwing tantrums and gives the evil eye when he doesn’t get his way.  Sometimes his look makes me bust out laughing but I try not to because I don’t want him to think it’s funny.  But, it really is sometimes.  Brian is keeping busy working.  I’m busy working, taking care of a sick Tyson, taking care of my own cold, and dancing. Here are pictures from the last while.  Enjoy!

My friend Mindy came to visit the last weekend in January. I am so mad I didn’t get a picture with or with Julie who came over that Sunday night!  Tyson loved seeing Addy again and they played great together.  Tyson even tried kissing her right before they left but only got her binky and then Addy wanted nothing else to do with kisses : )  Perhaps here are some pictures that will go in their future wedding video?  haha!

For Christmas I got Brian some tickets to a Jazz game that was the end of January.  It was against the Sacramento Kings.  Boozer and some of the more popular players didn’t even play!  The Jazz won though and it was nice to go out on a date!  Thanks Mike and Emily!

My sick boy the last week!  I started to give him Tylenol and I guess he felt so much better he started running around, taking off his clothes and driving his train like crazy.  I’ve stopped giving him Tylenol because I want him to rest instead of run himself tired!  I love this video of him on his train.  He was just wired!!!  It’s a little long but fun to watch him zoom around and almost crash into me!
