Festival of Trees

We missed the Festival of Trees last year and were really sad.  They always have it the first of December and for some reason we forget about it.  We remembered the second to last night this year.  We went on Friday night, Dec. 2nd at 7pm.  CROWDED!!!  But we don’t regret it.  It is for a fabulous cause and it is always fun to walk around and see all of the decorated Christmas trees.  Tyson loved all the trees with trains, of course.

We will remember next year and we will go on the first day they are open.  We think it will be easier to see the trees with a few less people :)

Tyson lovin’ the train at the bottom of the Mickey Mouse tree.

Oh and Tyson made me take a picture of this tree with the train too.

Decorating the Christmas Tree

Last year it took awhile for me to get up some energy to decorate the tree.  We tried really hard this year to do it right after Thanksgiving.  Tyson was also very helpful this year.  He actually put most of the ornaments on the tree.  I tried to help him spread out the ornaments but he wasn’t really listening to me.  I thought I would just take a picture of how he did it and then spread them out.  However, once I saw how adorable it was I decided to leave them right where they were.  What a fun memory to have Tyson help for the first time.  He is getting so excited for Christmas these days.

He is so proud of himself!

Ah, love how close the ornaments are to each other :)

Thanksgiving 2011

We spent the holiday with Brian’s family and it was wonderful.  Since Brian had most of Wednesday off we headed up a day early.  Mom helped me decide the dessert to make.  I ended up making the banana cake with cream cheese frosting.  Love that cake.  Anyway, Brian and I went on a little date for about an hour and half to get ice cream and talk.  We don’t go on dates enough.  It’s a problem we need to fix.

Thanksgiving game around and I was in charge of the mashed potatoes.  I tried peeling them with an older type of peeler I wasn’t familiar with and it was taking me a long time so I got put on chopping the potatoes duty.  I even had trouble with that.  After that I pretty much didn’t do anything else.  I had a Relief Society incident where I brought mashed potatoes but they were so incredibly salty it was bad, really bad.  I didn’t dare touch the Thanksgiving mashed potatoes and ruin it for everyone :)  Wendy’s family, Aaron’s family, Jenny’s family and our family were there along with Brian’s parents.  Everything tasted delicious.  Before the feast I thought that we should take some pictures of Andrew in his cute Thanksgiving shirt before he spit up on it or something.  As I was moving him to hold him up for the picture he spit up.  Yeah, I knew it would happen.  We hurried and cleaned him up and then took some quick shots.  Here they are!

This is a picture Grandma took of Andrew.  I think he was doing this while we were gone on our little date. :)

I went Black Friday shopping with Jenny and Carlos.  We had a good time.  My favorite thing about Black Friday is going out to breakfast.  I feel like I am getting too old for the early morning though.  Every year it gets harder and harder to recover from.  Brian had to work so I missed him that morning.  He told me he would try to get that day off next Thanksgiving.

Hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving!
