Happy Halloween!

Okay, okay so I’m a little late in posting about the latest events and the holiday.  I’ll more than make up for it now.

Pumpkin Patch, Oct 29

We went to a pumpkin patch with our friends Joe, Heather and their boy Dallin.  I hadn’t charged my camera before we left so Heather sent me some pictures.  They are super cute.  I love going to the pumpkin patch.  It is such a Fall thing to do.  Brian helped Tyson find a really, really small pumpkin.  Tyson called it “baby pumpkin” and carried it everywhere for a few days : ) We still haven’t done anything with our pumpkins that we bought.  We were going to carve them on Halloween evening but we have a good reason why that didn’t happen. I’ll explain later.  So anyway, if you have any ideas of what to do with pumpkins, let me know. 

Ward Activity, Oct 30

So on Saturday night we went to our ward activity.  The kids dressed up and went trick or treating to the doors in the church.  I must say I enjoyed this because no one had to be outside freezing.  Plus when you all have coats on, no one can see your costume : )  Here are some pictures of Ty having fun.

 

Not the most successful pictures : )  I’d tell him to say cheese and he’d show me his bucket or candy.  I told him to not move so he sat down and he was totally into attacking that black cat. Nonetheless he enjoyed getting candy and having everyone tell him how cute he was.  What a cute little Nemo he was!

Unfortunately that night didn’t quite turn out how I had been hoping.  For the past 4 days before Oct 30th I had started to have cramping.  Over the next few days it really only got worse and doing the littlest stuff would set it off.  I was laying down a lot and drinking as much water as I could because that’s what the nurse told me to do.  Finally Saturday night at the ward activity I started to get it again but bad.  All we had done was walk around the building once!  So in tears I asked Brian to take me to the hospital on the way to the car.  I think normally I wouldn’t have been so worried but earlier that week one of my friends who was carrying twin boys lost both of her babies.  She was only due 1 week behind me.  I really just started to worry that maybe something else was going on.  Anyway, we were at the hospital for about 3 hours for them to tell me that I was not in labor and that I was just dehydrated.  I was so grateful that everything was okay.  However, slightly confused because I had been chugging water like it had gone out of style.  This whole pregnancy I have felt dehydrated and always thirsty.  It’s like I just can’t quench my thirst.  The nurses told me that is one of the effects of gestational diabetes.  I don’t have my test for that for another 2 weeks so I won’t know until then.  I’ll let you know.  Anyway I was also told to take it easy.  Which most of us know isn’t the easiest to do with a toddler at home.  However, I rest as much as I can and have quit exercising.  Exercising and doing lots of bending over and cleaning really sets off the cramps.  So I still get cramps even to this day but I’m drinking water like crazy and laying down a lot.  We are very grateful that this little baby is still inside and growing.

Oct 31

I had been planning on taking more pictures of Tyson in his Halloween costume the night before but of course that didn’t happen.  So I dressed him up after church and let him run around.  I think I got some cute pictures of him.  He’s so cute.  Happy Halloween 2010!

 

I also need to post about Brian’s new job!  He started Nov 1!  Until I make this blog private I can’t really say where he’s at but just know that he is really enjoying it so far.  The whole process of getting this job was inspired.  He wasn’t really even looking for another job and this basically just fell into his lap.  We feel so blessed!!!!  We know this is where the Lord has intended us to be.  It’s a wonderful opportunity and we are so grateful for everyone that helped us along the way. The only thing I’m not enjoying about this new job is that I have to iron his work clothes. Any suggestions on how to avoid that in dress shirts and pants would be greatly appreciated : ) 

Private

I’ve decided to make this blog private.  I’ve heard too many things lately of people taking pictures and information off of blogs.  For my families safety I’ve just got to do it.  I’ve always wanted to avoid it because I HATE when I have to sign in to see private blogs and because people just don’t check them very often because you can’t tell when they have been updated.  Regardless of the inconveniences I feel it is a necessary move.

Cornbelly’s and the Zoo

On the 9th my brother and his wife invited me to go to Cornbelly’s with them.  Tyson had a blast and I had a blast watching Ty.  Brian couldn’t go because he was in school so it was the perfect thing to get Ty and me out of the house on a Saturday!  Here are some pictures!!

    

His favorite part was this wooden train.  I think he went back to it 3 times.  I basically had to carry him out of that area so we could do other things. 

I couldn’t believe that my son climbed up this netting.  I thought for sure he’d get stuck, scared or hurt.  Nope!  He did awesome!

Cousins!

So if you live in Utah and you’ve never been to Cornbelly’s…GO!  It is super fun.  It wore me and Tyson out big time.  It is kinda pricey but sometimes you just have to spend that kind of money every now and then.  I think stuff like this is what makes life even more joyful : )  I mean really, look at Tyson’s face in all of my pictures.

Here’s a picture of me at 22 weeks.  People have been asking to see a picture.  Whatever.  I feel so much larger than this picture shows.  Lame. 

This last weekend Brian, Tyson and I spent the night at my brother’s house.  It was Max’s 3rd birthday!  Still can’t believe he’s 3.  Anyway, we had tons of fun!  Saturday we decided to head to the zoo.  Brian said he hadn’t been to a zoo in probably 15 years.  I thought I took so many pictures there but I guess I didn’t.  Here are some of what I did get that actually worked. : )  Tyson loved every bit of it.  My favorite was the giraffes.  I always feel bad because I never really like going to the zoo.  I don’t know what it is.  Perhaps it’s the smell or that I pay money to watch an animal lay there.  But Tyson liked it and you just have to go to a zoo sometimes, right?  (I just realized that my journaling isn’t very upbeat.  I promise I am really happy right now.  Things are fantastic in our lives right now.  I’m just kinda of uncomfortable being pregnant and I’m not the biggest zoo fan! Haha!)

So I had to bribe Tyson to take a picture by the elephants with a starburst.  I suppose I didn’t take the picture fast enough.

THE TRAIN RIDE!!!!

Here is one totally random picture but I took it to remind me of something he said that was really, really fun about a month ago.

Here’s the story.  I was on the computer, which is right behind our kitchen table.  Tyson was eating yogurt (he calls it mo-gurt).  I turned around in my chair to check on him and he had yogurt all over his face, hand and up his arm.  I believe it was even in his hair.  When Tyson was little I would have expected such a mess but he’s pretty good now.  So I asked him why he was covered in yogurt and why it was all over his arm and hand.  He looked at me like, “Come on mom, how could you not know why,” and straight up said “Cuz I put my hand in the mo-gurt!”  Yeah, that’s our Ty Guy!

The ultrasound was as clear as day!  It’s another boy!  We’re very excited about our new addition.  Tyson was so cute at the ultrasound.  Brian pointed to the screen and said, “That’s your new baby brother.”  Tyson then looked at me and said, “Look mommy, it’s baby brother!”  I think he’ll do great with him.  At least I hope!  On the way home from the ultrasound he insisted on carrying the ultrasound pictures by saying, “I wanna carry baby brother.”  Pretty sure he doesn’t quite get it, but he will.  : ) I tried to scan the pictures in but I can’t figure out how to use the scanner yet.  Sorry!

On a side note I want to tell you a funny story about Ty.  The last few weeks his talking has turning from 2 or 3 word sentences to sentences with 5-7 or more words.  His vocabulary and comprehension are just exploding and it is SOOOO fun!  He cracks us up all the time with what his little mind will come up with.  We were at church yesterday in Sacrament meeting and Brian helped pass it.  So I was sitting with Tyson by myself for a good 10 minutes.  I suppose he got tired of me so he started to wave at me and say, “Bye mommy.  I’m gonna go to dad.”  Well, in this circumstance he really can’t.  So I’m trying to barricade him in and not let him leave the bench.  In the process he gets mad and says, “Daddy, help!  Help Daddy!!!”  I tried desperately to not crack up.  It was so funny.  Usually I get embarrassed when he’s not being very good at church but this time I found it hilarious. 

He’s at the point where you have to do things a certain way and usually a certain order or he gets upset.  Most of this has to include him.  He’s constantly saying, “Tyson’s turn” because I’m always saying, “It’s moms turn” when I’m cooking something for example.  Sometimes this frustrates me but I try to be patient.  Patience is certainly something that I have had to work on : ) 

All and all we’re all doing well.  I’m feeling pretty good.  The evening gets to me a little but I’m so grateful to be past the sickness stage.  Even though I’ve already gained more weight than I want I’m hoping we can keep it to a minimum from here on out.  I’m going on brisk walks with some neighbors and trying to eat a lot more vegetables and fruits.  I’m also not very hungry in the evenings so I’m trying to take advantage of that.  Even though I was so sick I still gained weight I shouldn’t have.  But after discussing this with some people and hearing some stories I’ve come to the conclusion that some women just gain more weight than others during pregnancy.  I worry that people look at me and think, geeze what’s her deal? But honestly my eating habits aren’t that different from before.  In fact, I think they’re a little better.  Oh well, it’s just life.  I’m just happy that I’m feeling better and that this baby is healthy.

Brian is busy with work and school.  It’s been an adjustment to have him come home from work, eat dinner and then get to studying.  We miss him but he’s really good about still finding time with us.  We’re proud of him even though we don’t see him as much : )

Here are some pictures from the last week.  We went with a preschool group on Wednesday to pick raspberries!  It was so fun.  I ended up with 2.5 lbs.  It was only $2/lb! We’ve eaten plenty and I made freezer jam!  That was a first for me and I’m really excited and proud of myself!  On Saturday one of Brian’s best friends got married!  I only took one picture of them but they were beaming!  I love it when people get married : ) Congrats Dave and Teri!

The Caterpillar

We went to Onion Days and to visit Brian’s parents and family for Labor Day.  Tyson loved the parade and the candy that was thrown to him.  We walked around the carnival, ate some food and walked through the rides.  We weren’t planning on letting Tyson ride anything but Brian saw the Caterpillar and was like “okay, he’s gotta get on this one.”  I was really nervous.  It’s like a mini rollercoaster!  I thought for sure he was too small but he did great and he LOVED it!  Next time I’ll try not to be so protective.  I feel silly about it now but at the time I was really, really nervous.  The pictures I got aren’t the greatest.  The girl in front of Tyson was older and bigger than him.  Also, the corner I was standing at Tyson kept looking down.  But hopefully you can still see how much fun he had.

 

Hope everyone had a nice Labor Day.  We did!  It’s hard to get back to reality when you have a day off isn’t it?

Extra Key

Just wanted to remind everyone to place an extra house key somewhere that isn’t IN your house.

Tyson locked me out of the house today.  It seriously took him 2 seconds to do it too.  I wasn’t panicked because we have an extra key in a certain hiding place.  Well, apparently last time I used that key, I didn’t return it.  That’s when I panicked.  I had to call Brian and he had to leave work to come unlock the door.  Let’s just say it was a long 25 minutes.  Anyway, I had NO idea he could lock a door.  I tried to coach him through unlocking it but he didn’t get it.  To be honest, I didn’t really expect him to.  I’m happy we have a patio so I could see him through that door.  I tried to sing him songs, help him unlock the door, and told him about a bazillion times that Mommy loves him.  He cried most of the time asking to “get out” or “I want a cookie.”  I told him mommy would certainly give him a cookie once daddy unlocks the door.

So anyway, just a word of warning about that extra key.  It does NO good when it’s inside the locked house : )
