Halloween Crafting

I have this hope that I will craft more with my kids.  That they will remember making fun things out of construction paper and seeing it hung on the fridge.  I have to stretch myself to make the effort.  It doesn’t come easily to me.  I am happy there is Pinterest because they tell me how to do those kinds of things and I don’t have to try to make any of it up. 

I watch a neighborhood girl while her mom teaches ballroom.  Then we switch while I teach ballet.  I think it works out nicely.  I just feel bad for her because my boys are unbelievably crazy and Lily is the sweetest little thing.

Anyway, I wanted to do something fun with the kids.  It took all of 15 minutes to make but they seemed to really enjoy themselves.

Hee Haws

This morning we went to Hee Haw farms with Tyson’s school for a field trip.  We’ve been three years in a row.  Ty loves it.  We did a hay ride, corn maze, pumpkin patch, petting the animals and the slide.

I remember the corn maze from last year and getting lost.  It made me quite nervous and annoyed.  Well, it happened again this year.  I swear, I am never going in there again.  I had to push Andrew in the stroller and it was ridiculous.  Other than that fiasco, we survived.  The farm is exhausting but I am glad for the memories with my two boys.

Hay ride which I think totally flared up my allergies.

 

Andrew was a little scared of the animals and wouldn’t get any closer. 

Tyson was waving at all the animals.  It was pretty funny.

 

Lazy Sunday

With church being at 9am, Sundays turn out to be so lazy.  While Andrew and I took a nap, Tyson and Brian built domino train towers.  Pretty cute!

 

And just so I can remember this forever and ever, Tyson said the sweetest thing to me at church.  We were subbing in Primary for the first half and Ty was sitting in the row in front of us.  He turned around and said, “Mom, I sure love you.”  Talk about melt my heart.

Hair cut and raspberries

Yesterday was kind of a busy day!  Brian went to the temple, Tyson went to school, Andrew got a hair cut, Tyson and I went to pick raspberries (finally!), Lily came to play, and I taught ballet.  We usually aren’t that busy but it was fun!

Here are some before and after pictures of Andrew’s hair cut.  I took him to Cookie Cutters because we have family pictures next week and I want his hair to look great.  Not that Brian wouldn’t do a good job but we’ve never cut his hair before and it is not like his or Tyson’s hair.  It is very very fine.  Anyway, they did a great job at the place.  It is so cute!  Andrew sat in a little car and played with the steering wheel and watched Mickey Mouse.  The guy showed Andrew every tool he was going to use and let him touch it before he used it.  And that guy was like a magician.  I swear it was the fastest hair cut I’ve ever seen.  Andrew did great and never even fussed or cried!

 

 

Raspberry picking was nice.  Ty kept calling it raspberry hunting.  It was nice to have a little Tyson/mommy time.  Tyson would tell me every single time he found a berry and would hold it up.  He also kept asking me if my bucket was heavy and offered for me to put berries in his bucket.  He wanted to take pictures of me and instructed me on how to stand and smile.  We saw a train go by so of course that was fun for him.  I just asked Tyson what his favorite part of the raspberry picking was and he said, “I liked that they were on the vines.”  :)  After 45 minutes Tyson asked if we could pick flowers now.  I held him off for another 15 minutes and then we picked some pretty flowers.  So an hour’s work and we picked 1 1/2 lbs.  I am positive this is something we will continue to do every year.

 

Why my children love their father

There are so many reasons why children need a father and especially my children. 

Who else is going really teach them to cheer on BYU even when their football season has been going less than ideal?

Who else is going to be rough and tough with them on the floor?

Who else is going to build awesome train tracks and lego things?

Who else is going to teach them to honor their priesthood?

Who else is going to teach them to fix things that are broken?

Who else is going to stick them in a BYU cooler just because and then swing them around in it?

The thought to do the last would have never crossed my mind, but Andrew loved it.  Sometimes I try to play airplane or wrestle on the floor with my boys but I just don’t do it well enough.  They need Brian and they sure love him.

I’ll just stick to teaching them how to color and make crafts, how to keep a house clean, how to make cookies, how to make dinner, how to read and play, how to fold laundry, etc. :)

 

The last evening

I found these pictures from the last night of my parents visit.  We drove to Fashion Place so my mom could pick up her new glasses and we decided while there to take my parents out to dinner.  Before eating we needed to pick Brian up at the Trax station.  Ty was sound asleep and I couldn’t wake him but Andrew was beyond excited to see the train and to wait for daddy.

 

He’s really into pointing at things these days!

After California Pizza Kitchen we went to TCBY.  I had 10 minutes before 8pm when I couldn’t eat anything else.  The only flavor that was sugar free was completely melted and a soup.  The lady told me to wait a few minutes and it would harden up.  At this point I only had 5 minutes now.  I poured out a partially soupy/soft yogurt (because I was running out of time), threw a few fresh blackberries on it, weighted it and then sat down.  I ate what little amount I got in less than 1 minute.  How’s that for pushing it close?  It was kind of annoying but still yummy.
