All in a day

All in a day we went to Tyson’s soccer game, the Fidelity work party, bought a van and went to Seven Peaks!  What a day!

Tyson played great in his game.  He struggles a little bit with focus out on the field but he’s 4.  He is getting braver with getting into the pack and kicking the ball and yesterday he learned which goal to try to score in.  That’s an important skill!

After the game we went to the Fidelity work party.  The Brown’s were there too and it was much more fun having people to sit with and talk to.  Tyson and Wes played on the blow up slides for awhile and we stayed until the end of the party.  They had so much food left over that Brian started casually collecting bags of chips and drinks.  After Josh grabbed an 84 package of hot dogs, Brian and I grabbed packs of hot dog buns.  What do you think we are having for dinner tonight? :)  The party was fun and I’m glad we went this year and really glad we got to take home a bunch of free food.

On the drive home Brian wanted to swing by an auto dealership.  I obliged.  We had been looking for about a month just casually and had not been impressed by used vans at all.  Most were filthy and we started to wonder if used was the way to go.  But we needed to get a used one because of our budget for it.  I stayed in the car with sleeping Tyson while Brian looked around.  After about 10 minutes I came out to see what was taking so long.  I really assumed he would look and be back quickly.  He found this black 2009 Honda Odyssey and seemed really excited about it.  I wondered why because it was black with cream interior.  I thought it was so nasty.  However, it had all the bells and whistles of a pimped out Honda Odyssey and it was CLEAN.  Super rare out here.  Anyway, it had a little bit more miles then we had originally wanted but it had way more features than we thought we would find and be able to afford.  I took a test drive, then Brian did and the color grew on me more and more.  To make the story shorter, the van was ours less than 2 hours later.  It was owned by the Secret Service!  We hit home on the GPS and an address in Washington, D.C. appeared.  That explains the cleanliness factor.  Oh, we are so in love.  I am so happy that we had seen so many other vans and prices so we knew this was a good deal.  After Brian signed the papers another couple that was at the dealership called in to buy the van. It was ours!  Wahoo!!!

And to top off the crazy day, Tyson and I went on date to Seven Peaks with Wes and Erin Brown.  Tyson loves being a big boy and riding the big slides.  He has no fear sometimes.  He jumped right in my lap in the tube and shouted, Lets GO!  Thanks Erin for letting us tag along.

Sad that the park had closed and he didn’t get to ride the slide one more time.

Lagoon

I think my family has made the trip to Lagoon at the end of the summer a tradition now!  Last year was so much fun that my mom decided we needed to do it again!  Thank you mom!  We had a blast.  The only thing missing was my dad.

Ty wasn’t scared to go on the lady bug ride this year.

Andrew had a difficult day so by the end we were all exhausted but have already made plans to use the Bounce Back passes and hire a babysitter :)

My little model

Tyson has modeled for the Steal Network before but this time it was even more fun.  My mom was there and got a picture of him in the process!  He also got a new shirt, sunglasses and a preschool workbook for modeling!  My mom also found some Thomas trains in the boutique and bought that for him.  He walked away with bank and was so excited.  He is such a cutie!!

Last year!

Ty’s eye

When Mindy and her kids were here visiting Tyson got stung by a bee on his finger.  He was yelling, “ouch, Ouch, OUCH!!!”  and “it hurts really bad!”  I put some lavender oil on it and some ice and he was better within minutes.  He gets stung once a year so I thought at least it is over with now.

Then while playing at Grandma and Grandpa’s with his cousins out side he got stung to the left of his left eye by his hair line.  Poor kid!

On Tuesday morning we woke up to this…

Scary looking!  We took him to the Dr. to make sure everything was okay.  The Dr. wasn’t sure if it was a sty or a reaction to the bee sting.  Turns out it was a reaction because it was all the way down by the end of the day.

Oh and on Monday at to the pool with Brian’s family, I got stung on my finger.  I was putting Andrew in his car seat at the time.  At least it got me and not Andrew’s bare back.  It hurt a lot so I felt even sorry for Tyson that it happened to him twice.  Seriously bees, 3 stings in 3 days is a bit ridiculous.  Leave us alone!

Unofficial Carlsen reunion

Brian’s brother, Rob, who has been in Portugal the last 2 years has moved to Ohio (where another brother, Dave, lives) and they made a trip to Utah to visit.  Another brother, Terry, also made the drive from Washington! We spent every possible moment we could with everyone from Sunday to Wednesday.  We would stay up late watching the Olympics and/or play games.  We would have the kids go to bed at Grandma’s house but drove home late most nights.  On Sunday we had a family dinner with almost everyone in Brian’s immediate family.  On Monday we went to the pool. Tuesday was bowling and ice cream and we spent the night. Wednesday was out to lunch for Chinese and Ty got to go see the movie Brave again.

Bowling on BYU campus!

This picture makes me laugh.  I had no idea Brian was bowling to get the highest score of everyone.  The flash went off and I messed him up. He ended up tying for the highest score with his sister, Jenny, at 131.

We walked to the BYU creamery but EFY had taken over the place so we went to the Malt Shoppe.  I have great memories of eating at this place as a sophomore in college.  I didn’t remember it being so nasty and dingy though.  Must have something to do with the fact that I have little children now and worry about that kind of thing.

Tyson ate almost his entire shake.  I am surprised he didn’t get a stomach ache.  He is definitely my child :)

Quick trip to the store with cousin Zach!  These two were so cute to see walking around everywhere.

Mindy R.

Mindy is my best friend.  I am so happy she was able to stop by and visit for the day on Saturday.  We caught up talking about life, friends, family, fitness, babies, etc.  I can’t really express how close I feel to this gal.  We met in Indiana in the summer of 2009.  We’ve kept in contact and have since then grown even closer.  I can tell her anything and I think she feels the same with me.

When we were in Indiana our kids were the age of her current youngest child who is 1 years old.  Since then she has had 2 more kids and me 1.  We laughed about how we thought our life was complicated back then.

Close babies in age!  Does anyone else think that Andrew looks like my dad in this picture?

While playing outside the first time a crazy wind storm passed through.  Wood chips attacked Mason and dirt was getting into our eyes.  We took a picture of us during it.  It was quite amusing.

The second time we went outside Tyson got his first bee sting of the weekend.  He was yelling, “ouch, ouch, OUCH!”  “It hurts so bad!”

Thanks Mindy!  I am coming to visit in the winter.  I will have no excuses.
