6 month pictures

I realize that I just made a post yesterday (so make sure you read the post below as well) but I can't wait any longer to post these pictures.  I took them yesterday and I am really happy with how they turned out.  Keep in mind I don't have photo shop or anything and I am still learning how to take pictures.  I know that sunlight is key so he was as close to the open window as I could get him.  The last two are my favorites I think but I like them all.

Where did the time go? 6 months old today!

I am having a hard time realizing that Ty is 6 months old today.  Where did the time go?  Seriously!  Anyway, quite a bit has gone on the last few days.  After the scare of learning that Tyson wasn't growing and fell off of his growth curve by alot we decided to heed the Dr. orders.  We started feeding him baby food (rice cereal) on Saturday.  It was an interesting experience.  He hated it.  He didn't want anything to do with the rice cereal.  We figured it was just because he didn't know how to swallow it.  We gave it to him again on Sunday and it was a little better but not much.  Same thing happened on Monday.  Brian yesterday started feeding it to him again and he was crying and spitting it all out.  So, we opened a can of butternut squash and mixed it with the rice cereal and he couldn't get enough of the yummy goodness!  I guess he hated the crappy taste of rice cereal.  We're glad he is liking the food now: )  Monday we also gave him a bottle of formula and he didn't mind it at all.  He never fussed or cried.  He is used to getting a bottle here and there but it usually isn't full of formula.  I'm glad he doesn't mind it because we need to beef that baby boy up!  So now were are feeding him baby food and a bottle of formula once a day and the rest of the time is still breast milk.  Hopefully this all helps so I can still nurse him some.  I'm not ready to give it all up yet.  In fact when Brian gave him his first bottle of formula on Monday I broke down and cried.  Seems silly but I just missed it.  Here are some pictures from the baby food.  They are only from the first and second try of him hating it : )

Next is how I finally decided it was time to have him cry himself to sleep for naps.  He has done awesome at night after the first week of practice.  We started this conference weekend and he cried before each nap for about an hour to an hour and half.  He can be so stubborn!  Yesterday was a nightmare with him only taking one nap that was an hour and half.  But I see the light at the end of the tunnel because he cried for only 5 minutes this morning which means that he is getting the hang of it.  YAY!  Here are some goofy and adorable pictures of Tyson and Dad during General Conference!

On Monday night we decided to give Tyson his first hair cut.  His hair always naturally sticks up.  However, the last month the few hairs in the front started curling back and well, I wasn't a big fan.  So, I cut the front to even it out a bit and it looks cute.  Here are some before and after pictures.

Nothing but Dr. Appointments

Hey everyone!  This last week has been nothin' but doctors appointments.  On Monday I went to the Dr. because I have had a sinus infection for about 2 weeks.  I was worried about going and having the Dr. give me medicine so I wouldn't be able to breast feed any more but once I started to feel sick everywhere I realized it was time to take care of myself.  So I go and wait in the Dr. office for an hour (mind you I HAD an appointment) which was during Tyson's nap time and snack time.  Anyway, I got an antibiotic but I'm not sure it is working so I will probably have to get another one.  Then on Thurs I took Tyson to his 6 month check up.  He got like 5 shots including the flu shot.  I had had a hunch about 2 weeks ago that Tyson wasn't gaining weight but I figured I would just wait.  Well, I was right because Tyson didn't gain weight, he actually lost weight!  Apparently, that isn't too uncommon to not gain weight around that age.  Which surprised me but the problem is that he didn't grow in height either which is NOT good.  He asked about my milk supply which I think has been fine.  I've had to pump some b/c of teaching dance so I figured it was all good and dandy.  He told me to start the baby food and then to come back in 4 weeks to make sure he has grown.  If not then I suppose I will be done with breastfeeding which makes me sad.  I think we will give a bottle of formula instead during one feeding to see if that helps.  Has anyone done that before?  I want to do formula and breast feed if I can.  So Tyson dropped to below the 3% in weight and dropped to the 25% for height.  Then on Friday I went to the dentist and got 3 cavities filled.  It wasn't as bad as I thought it was gonna be but still.  We don't have dental insurance any more of course.  All I can say is thank you pregnancy! : )

So that is pretty much it for now.  Oh I did get hired by the Vibe for a class on Monday and I am happy about it.  Below I am posting some pictures of Tyson when he turned 5 months.  I am a bit behind posting pictures.  When he turns 6 months old I will post some more.  Happy looking!

Last week end we went to the Circus.  It was a lot of fun and was worth the money we thought. It was Tyson's bed time an hour after the show started.  We thought he might get fussy but he did great.  There was a lot going on with animals and people and flashes of light that he stayed entertained.  He even stayed up an extra hour then normal but did eventually fall asleep in daddy's arms. Here are some pictures from that.

Good Bye Baby Weight!

So, I just wanted to announce that I only have 3 more pounds to lose before I hit my pre-pregnancy weight.  I realize that I am bragging BUT I am pretty happy so I want to.  I have worked hard with the elliptical, Wii Fit, Biggest Loser Exercise DVDs, and Leslie Sansone's walking DVDs.  I also tried to eat better the last few months, but I really am not that good at it.  Tyson will be 6 months old soon so it is safe to say it took me 6 months to do it.  Next pregnancy I will be a bit more aware of the weight I gain in the beginning.  I gained a bit more than you normally should in the first trimester.  I always felt nauseous so I didn't feel like exercising and then I ate all the time to calm my stomach.  Hopefully, I will remember what not to do when the time comes.  I realize that I have almost reached my goal but as soon as I reach it I will come up with another goal that is attainable.  If I didn't have a goal then I wouldn't strive for anything.

Sorry

Okay, so I use to be really good at updating this thing b/c I didn't have much going on other than feeding Ty, dressing Ty, burping Ty, changing diapers, eating myself, showering, making dinner, laundry, cleaning and dishes.  However, over the last month my world has gotten busier.  I am teaching ballet!  I love it so much.  My friend Lindsey sent a message about Seven Peaks and how they needed a ballet teacher.  I was the first to respond and got the job.  Then I thought to myself, Why don't I email my friends that teach dance and see if they know of any openings?  (I figured if I was gonna do one class I should do some more!)  Lindsey emailed me again and I got a job at Timpanogos School of Dance.  I started sending out my resume to lots of studios in Utah County (I had no idea there were so many until I started looking).  I have had lots of phone calls for substituting and actually getting jobs!  So it turns out I teach at Seven Peaks to ice skaters, at Alpine Peaks performing arts, Timpanogos School of dance and on Monday I taught a class to see if the Vibe will hire me permanently.  I haven't heard back yet but keep your fingers crossed.  The studio has a little daycare which is just PERFECT!  It has been crazy wonderful.  I can soon be done with the other part time job that I have.  I feel good about teaching.  I am able to make some money for our family but I am still am to stay home and watch Tyson.  Yes I miss some time with Brian but right now he is studying to take the GMAT and will soon go to school and study more anyway.  So I don't think it makes much of a difference right now.  Thank you all of my dance friends for your help!

I know that I said I would share more things about the month of August but I can't even remember anymore what I was going to share.  So, here are some pictures from August and I will comment on them below.  I haven't take many pictures from September.  I need to clean off our card again to make room.

The rest of the pictures are just Ty playing.  The last two pictures came from one morning.  I laid out all the toys on the bed and he somehow got them on his arm and around his ankle.  He is just so cute.  He is rolling around like crazy and is starting to get into whatever he sees!!

So much has happened the last month...

Alright, I am ready to update this thing.  So much has happened it is ridiculous.  I have some great pictures to share.  I will first start by letting you know how it went with letting Tyson cry himself to sleep.  The first night was horrible!  He cried for about 3 hours then fell asleep.  He woke up about 2 times during the night and cried more.  I was a wreck the next day.  I was so emotionally exhausted I couldn't stop crying myself.  I want everyone to know that I have eaten my words.  I told myself I would not be some over emotional crazy mom who won't let her child cry for an hour.  Um,  I was EXACTLY that.  The next few days were hard as well but it got easier each night.  Now were are to the point where sometimes he doesn't even cry.  A new milestone for Tyson is that he now rolls around like CRAZY.  He is so strong.  He has been doing it for a few weeks and is getting really good at it.  I will now write about SYTYCD.  I really wanted Chelsie to win but she didn't even make it to the finals.  Oh well, my next choice was probably Katee but I wasn't sad that Joshua won.  For a hip hop dancer to do as well as he did in every style I can say that he deserved to win.  He seemed to be a nice guy with a good personality and that is important for the viewers.  I thought about going to the show from their tour but decided that maybe I was a little too old for that kind of thing.  Maybe not and I might regret that I decided to not go.  Oh well, I think saving some money is important for our family right now anyway.   Next topic of choice: the Olympics.  I got so sleep deprived!  I hated how everything went so late.  I couldn't help myself b/c I kept saying this was a once in a life chance to watch it.  That is when I really wished we had DVR.  I loved the gymnastics.  I love Nastia!  She is like a ballerina gymnast!  I was happy the way most of everything turned out except for the uneven bar finals.  I don't care that they tied but come on shouldn't they both get a GOLD medal?  Geeze!  What a load of crap.  Next topic: John's wedding.  On 8/8/08 Brian's youngest brother got married!  It was a great day spent with family and friends.  The temple was great and the reception as well.  The weather was bad for awhile but let up just in time for the reception that was planned for the backyard.  I took my nice camera and as I turned it on the low battery signal flashed on and one minute later it died.  I was completely upset b/c I wasn't able to take ANY picture at the temple.  I did however recharge the battery for the reception.  Here are some of the picture I took. : )

I really liked taking pictures of the things that didn't really move : )

Alright the following day we went up Spanish Fork canyon to spend a day with Brian's family at their property.  It rained for awhile and got really cold.  All and all it was fun!  We hung out, talked, shot some guns and hit some golf balls!  This was Ty's first time at the property.

Tyson is now awake from his nap.  I need to get him and I should end this post b/c it will be too big to load if I don't quit.  Don't worry, I am no where near done talking about the month of August.  Stay tuned...

Computer problems

You all know that I love to blog.  I find it theraputic I suppose.  Anyway our computer acted up and just stopped working!  I have missed being able to check email, facebook, blogs, etc.  Obviously I will share pictures, news and stories as soon as I can.  I need a good hour or so to download and then type.  Check back soon...hopefully this weekend I will get to it!
