Andrew baby

Our little Andrew baby just turned one.   I am in complete denial.  :)

We have felt so blessed that this little guy got to come to our family.  It has been such a joy to be his parents and we look forward to the years that will come.  He is such a smiley, happy boy.  He has been that way from the very beginning.  He loves to watch his big brother play around him and with him.  He smiles at Tyson like he thinks he is the coolest guy around.  Tyson just eats up the attention Andrew gives him.  Andrew brightens my day by simply smiling at me when I walk into the room and his eyes catch mine.  His face lights up when he sees daddy in the evening.  Andrew is still a fabulous sleeper and I appreciate that every morning.  Andrew is able to go ‘with the flow’ when it comes to running errands.  If he is tired he will just fall asleep in his car seat.  I try to be home for nap time but having an older child, sometimes that isn’t possible.  He is such a trooper.  We love Andrew more than words can even say.  He was sent to us from our loving Heavenly Father and we are eternally grateful to Him.

This is Andrew’s new thing that he likes to do.  Crawl to the entertainment center, pull up onto his feet and start pulling every DVD off of the first self onto the floor.

Here is a video of Andrew playing with a balloon that he got from his birthday party.  And like I have previously mentioned, that ottoman in front of the TV is his favorite spot to stand.

Basketball

Tyson started a basketball class on February 6th!  He loved his first day.  I was so proud of him for listening to his coaches so well.  He did all the stretches and drills.  It was so cute to see him out there doing his best.  I thought that by not having a little girl yet to take to dance class that I was really missing out.  I was completely wrong.  It was so fun to see him out there!  Here are a few pictures I snapped.  They are all blurry and I can’t figure out why.  I think I bumped a setting on my camera.

Warming up before class started.

Here are some pictures from yesterday (Feb. 13th).  He was sick during his class on the 8th and wasn’t doing much at all.  Yesterday he was sad because they wouldn’t let him stand by his friend Wes.  But after about 15 minutes he was fine and had a fabulous time.  I am so glad he enjoys it so much!

Andrew really likes going to basketball practice too!  He crawls away from me so fast to see if he can make it to the basket of balls before I can get him :)

Here’s a video of one of the drills.  I think he was a bit distracted by the camera :)

Misc. January

Not a lot happened in January.  I imagine most people could probably say the same thing.  However, it was still a great month.  Here is how it went…

We went to the Auto Show on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day :)  We try to go to the Auto Show every year.  It is always a great time.  This year we looked a little bit more seriously at mini vans and SUVs.  I surprised myself and really loved the Ford Explorer.  It had the most comfortable seats I had ever sat on.

Here is Tyson next to Mater from the movie Cars.  He was so excited and kept talking about his hook in the back.

They had a fun Jeep area where the young kids could drive Power Wheels.  It was really amusing to watch young kids drive around.  Haha!

During the end of January this little guy started doing this…and hasn’t stopped since.

This is Andrew’s favorite spot.  He can stand there for at least 20 minutes straight.  The ottoman is now pushed up in front of the DVD player and cabinets to keep him away.

The boys also started taking baths together because Andrew is not quite as fragile anymore.  They love it!

Tyson and I also built a fort one morning and watched a movie and ate popcorn in it.  Pretty sure he thought it was the coolest fork (that’s what he kept calling it) ever.

New Years!

We went bowling on New Years (Well actually on the 2nd because New Years was on Sunday!)  It was so fun!!!  I learned that my mother won a bowling trophy back in her day and that my father hasn’t bowled in at least 5 years!

Tyson LOVED bowling for the first time.  What a fun family activity!

December 26-31

The morning after Christmas my dad, mom, me, Tyson and Andrew all packed into the rented van and headed to Palm Springs, California to visit my Grandparents.  I didn’t take one picture there!!  We had so much fun and what beautiful weather and company.

Tyson loved it there because they live on a golf course.  Tyson would play on the patio and watch the golfers.  When no one was coming he would take his golf ball out in the grass and play.  We got to meet Doug’s wife, Kim, who was a pleasure to talk with and who made us a great meal and taught me about Costco’s uncooked tortillas!  Mmmm…

Thanks Grandma and Grandpa!  I know having young kids around can be exhausting but we loved every minute of being there!

We left California on the 30th of December and stopped in St. George for the night and next morning.  My parents would some day like to retire there so they went out with some friends to see the city on the 31th.

My birthday is the 31st so I didn’t mind being in a hotel room for just a few hours.  The deal was to get me home by the afternoon so I could see Brian, have dinner and eat some cake.  Little did I know that those few hours would stress me out!  Right after my parents left Tyson went to the bathroom.  He locked the door and then shut it after he was finished and locked us out!  I talked to the front desk and they said maintenance wasn’t in yet but that she would send them up when they got here.  It was around 8:45am so I figured that meant around 9am.  Well 9:45am comes and Tyson is doing a potty dance.  I ran him down to the lobby to use that bathroom and he said he didn’t have to go.  We got back upstairs and he said he had to pee.  So I did what any good mother would do.  I helped him pee into a plastic water bottle.  At this point I was really mad at the hotel.  Around 10:30am they finally came up and seriously jiggled the knob with a knife and popped the door open.  They told me that maintenance only knew how to open it.  Perhaps they should teach some of the cleaning maids how to do it because they are around.  My mother complained (because the whole situation was absolutely ridiculous) and she was really calm about it.  She ended up getting the night’s stay for free.  Stupid hotel!

So we made it back to Utah and had a fun evening.  We went to a  Mexican restaurant for dinner and I opened my present/cards and then had some Cookies ‘N Cream Ice Cream cake!!  For my present I got tickets to see Wicked in August!

It was an unusual birthday but I sure felt special and loved!
