Brussels and Chi-chi’s

Went back to Brussels the day before we had to fly home.  I wanted to look for a music box or some sort of souvenir.  I also wanted a REAL Belgian waffle from Brussels.

Just a street performer

Waffle!  It did NOT disappoint.  It was amazing.

We made Tyson said by the little boy statue.  He really did not want to. LOL

I loved this saying on a window in Brussels.  Speculoss does make a day great.

Next up, Belgian fries.  Commonly known as, frites.  Fried potatoes and then fried again.  So good and nice and crunchy.  We were actually attacked by bees and it was quite a scene.

Me re-enacting Jeffrey given a fry.  Andrew shoved a fry down Jeffrey’s throat and he started choking in the hotel room in Paris.  It was scary and not surprising.

I ended up with a Belgian waffle magnet, Tyson got an atomium key chain, and Brian got a coin.

That night we went to Chi-chi’s.  My parents favorite restaurant in Belgium.  My mom stayed home with Andrew so we could have an enjoyable meal.  Apparently the wait is slow and we all knew what that would mean if Andrew would have been there.

I hate to change Jeffrey’s diaper while there and this was the changing table.  A dresser.  It was barely wide enough to even put the baby on.  It was laughable so of course I had to take a picture of it.

Tyson ordered ribs.  It was a surprise but he did really well eating them and said he liked it.

Atomium

After the castle we went to the Atomium on the way home.  The structure was built for the 1958 World Fair held in Brussels.

My boys on the “E”  My dad suggested we put Jeffrey on the top but I wasn’t going for that.

It was busy, tiring but awesome day!

Chocolate Factory and Gaasbeek Castle

After Technopolis we headed to the Neuhaus chocolate factory.  Oh my goodness.  The best chocolate in the world.  They have a box of everything there open so you can walk around and sample EVERYTHING.  I did that but about 7 pieces in I started to feel sick.  Brian too!  We still needed to pick out which chocolate to buy and bring home but we were feeling so sick.  We ended up with three different kinds.  They were so good.

So happy about our chocolate but…

After the factory we went to the Gaasbeek Castle.  I’ve never been to a real castle so it was neat.  One hilarious thing that happened was that my mom actually drove on to the walking path.  We were driving by everyone walking and they were just GLARING at us.  My dad and I started to get so embarrassed!  Mom pulled right up to the castle.  She thought that’s what you are suppose to do because when she took Mike and Emily it was raining and no one was there.  So my dad let me out and he had to drive all the way back and then walk in.  We laughed and laughed about it.

Here’s the spot where my mom pulled up.  Right to the front of the castle.
